Freddie the Felber
Today, 5/22/07, as we were preparing to start our first game at Nottoway 3, a figure s-l-o-w-l-y ambled up the path from the parking lot.  We hoped it might be Joe Hartsoe, but a closer look indicated that this figure was five-foot-eighteen-inch Freddie the Felber.  His slow pace troubled me, but when he finally arrived, his ever genial self was evident.  He showed me his affected hands, (do NOT try to shake them) and expressed his hopes that his recovery might be sooner than he earlier thought, and was shooting for late June.  While he definitely is not physically the same as before the infection, he is still the ever-ready Freddie; ever-ready to laugh, joke, and continue to teach us about the rules of our beloved game of softball.  It was sure good to see him, and I am glad to hear that his recovery time appears to be shorter than before.  Welcome back old buddie.

Re: Freddie the Felber
I heard a rumor that Freddie Felber was back out on the softball field last week, having held out so he could be ready for the playoffs.  I guess that is what one can expect from NVSS's gentle giant.  Welcome back Freddie.  I hate to admit it, but we missed your towering influence on the field.  Oh yeah, and stay away from Wilmington, Delaware.
